We provide our singers with the training they need to perform successfully at neighborhood, citywide, regional, and international concerts, while having fun alongside others from diverse backgrounds.

All programs benefit from the support of graduate level Teaching Fellows from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, New England Conservatory and Longy School of Music at Bard College.

Kodaly Singing Classes (ages 4 - K)

We return to in-person rehearsals with songs from around the world. We will connect directly with each child to enable all to participate in our beloved activities, from singing to movement and dance. We will be sharing beautiful story songs for listening and improvising our own verses.

Our Melody Makers will develop their musicianship through singing rounds, beginning two-part music and partner songs. Our classes allow children to connect with each other and develop their skills as individual singers.

Our Training Choruses teach singers to read music, master rhythmic patterns, and learn music in three parts. The wide-ranging repertoire includes music in multiple languages and working with composers. Performances take place at local events, neighborhood concerts and in staged productions.

Dorchester Vocalise (Grades 6 - 12)

Our weekly, 2-hour intensive Vocalise and Cantare programs concentrate on music literacy and vocal coaching. Singers prepare music in three-four parts in multiple languages. They perform at several regional events, festivals and concerts each year, including those with full orchestra.

This 40+-voice choir benefits from weekly intensive rehearsals. With a repertoire of 40+ pieces of music in multiple languages, they travel internationally and perform in over 15 events annually, often in collaboration with renowned musical artists. Singers receive small group training and engage in four non-traditional strands (substantive world rhythm, improvisation, composition, and movement classes).

 

Tour Choir’s World Rhythm Ensemble
