Placement

If you know a child that loves to sing, you have found the right place! We invite all singers from age 4 through high school to reach out to us - no experience is necessary.

While traditional, formal auditions are not required for young children. We ask that you send us a video of your child singing a favorite song or Happy Birthday.  We will then work with you to make the best program placement.

Singers in grades 6 - high school are asked to meet (in-person or virtually) with one of our directors to discuss interest, time commitment and experience.

There is no charge for a placement session. No one is denied membership for financial reasons.

What Others Are Saying

“Boston City Singers taught me the value of commitment; that with time and practice I can excel at anything I put my mind to and become a leader of the things that once scared me most.”

Boston City Singers has helped me grow artistically, spiritually and emotionally. I am comfortable with myself because of the supportive system that I call a family. I have the freedom to express myself, put the fear of judgment aside and feel safe and protected. I have become a strong leader and person because of Boston City Singers.

Our son joined Boston City Singers 7 years ago when he was in 2nd grade, singing with their Training Chorus in JP. Over the years he has moved from the Training Chorus, to Cantare, and now is singing with the Tour Choir. And our daughter has also been singing in JP for a few years and is now with the Cantare group. We love this organization. Much more than just singing and music, our children have been nurtured by all the staff. The organization is well run, and provides great community.

Just wanted to let you know how incredibly thrilled we are with our new partnership with Boston City Singers. Our first collaboration on November 6, a program of Art Song, was a resounding success. The Tour Choir's performance of Schubert's Standchen with one of our soloists, mezzo Krista River, was polished and sensitive. The German diction was spot on. It was obvious during the workshop with our soloists and vocal coach the previous day that these students had been extremely well prepared and absolutely up to the task of tackling a piece of this complexity. They were a joy to work with, dedicated and disciplined. Just a fabulous occasion over all. We look forward to many more opportunities for collaboration. Bravi tutti!!

This organization is wonderful. It's a warm, caring environment where the kids learn to sing. Their performances are heartwarming. Most importantly, Wendy and Debbie (who run the program) are the most dedicated individuals I have seen in all my daughter's extracurricular activities. You can see the results of their commitment in the performances and in the growth of the children. I feel honored to be a part of all of this!
