Day 13 was jam packed with really cool experiences!
Firstly, we had a concert at the Whale Well at the Iziko South African Museum, called that because of the giant whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling which we got to perform under, and we were able to have fun with as people just stopped by to listen to our music!
After we got to explore all around the museum which reminded some of the science museum in Boston! The museum had lots of replicas of animals both living and extinct. It was really cool to see the dinosaur exhibits since some of the artifacts were found in South Africa whereas lots of the ones we see in Boston are imported from other places.
Then we headed to the Canal Walk Mall, which was a shopping addict’s dream. This mall had stores stretching every which way and also had beautiful floral garden decor by the staircases. Whatever you were looking for, you would definitely find it there. We all gathered after, having had our fill of shopping, and headed to the same Woodstock church in which we attended a service our first day, except this time to perform with the South African Youth Choir!
The performance began with the South African Youth Choir amazing us with their powerful voices soon followed by a collection of diverse songs that we brought to our musical exchange. We sang multiple songs with the South African Youth Choir such as some of our favorites, Habongwane and I Sing Because I’m Happy! It was truly an amazing and energetic night singing with the South African Youth Choir and it was so cool to see the collaborations of each choir’s musical talents within each song.
