We met at the airport at 10:30am, where we checked in, went through security, and promptly boarded our hour-long flight for the Newark Airport. Before we could land, we travelled in several circles while waiting for space to free-up at the airport. There, we had a 6-hour layover, and spent it playing cards, getting food, and writing college essays (for some) among other things. A storm began almost immediately after we landed, and all flights were grounded. We were lucky to have made it just in time!
Before changing gates last-minute, Jane had us perform Denasi Ponono at the airport, which was very well-received! We boarded our flight to Cape Town, which was shorter than most of us already expected, and additionally ran ahead of schedule (in total it was around 13 hours). The crew went out of their way multiple times to comment on our politeness and respectful behavior!
After arriving at the Cape Town International Airport, we met our tour guide and boarded the bus to our retreat center, where we unpacked, had dinner, hung out, and headed to bed.
