TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A GLOBAL EDUCATION

Touring with Boston City Singers has awoken the travel bug in the majority of our Tour Choir graduates. To feed their need to experience life beyond the United States, some have earned undergraduate and graduate degrees abroad. Others have interned or volunteered at schools and nonprofit organizations. Others have an insatiable need to travel. One alumni earned the distinction of visiting 25 countries by the time she turned 25!

Places where our alumni have traveled and studied after graduating from Boston City Singers include Australia, Bali, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, Fiji, Ghana, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Rwanda, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, Vietnam.

ALUMNI ONGOING LOVE

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Isabelle

Isabelle
Class of 2021

“In the total darkness of the church, our hands linked, the energy of our voices melded, the emotion of the song reverberated throughout our ring of singers. That moment is what it means to be connected to other people, and it’s what it means to be triumphant.

Struggling through a new piece of music each week brought satisfactory frustration. Nailing a note and figuring out a time scheme was immensely satisfying, and as the whole choir puzzled through it, our love for the piece would grow, our glee over the chance to perform it together was infectious. Our choir is like a body made of light.

The performance, of studying these songs, were accomplishments that I treasured not only because I felt in control of victories in my life, but also because I was working towards an end goal with a group of friends who shared my passion, my comfort in music.

Being a singer was never just a hobby or an extracurricular - I’ve needed it to be healthy, socially, emotionally, and physically.
